Smudgie, the nickname that stuck and brings her luck, is a singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada. After a party on a rainy night in London, England, nearing the end of her Ph.D. in economics, she started song writing for the first time.

Her sound has been compared to a wide range of artists from Paramore to Death Cab for Cutie, The Eurythmics, and Blondie.

Smudgie's songs have been played right across America’s sports arenas to pump up fans. Her music has also been played across U.S. coffee houses and several of her songs were chosen by Tony Hawk personally for his “Ride Channel”.

She has scored films and was nominated for Best Original Score for the short film "Glitterbug". Her tune "Feel Like This” was placed in “The Odyssey Years”, an L.A.-based web drama series.

Her tunes have also been played on "terrestrial" radio such as Rock 95; many of her songs have climbed the charts on indie music websites and are currently on regular Internet radio rotation.

She has won several song-writing awards and her video to “Feel Like This” landed her a nomination for Best International Video by the UK’s Exposure Music Awards. That video was also aired by Long Island, New York-based satellite TV, reaching half a million viewers. She’s also regularly been on the Nashville Songwriters Association’s International’s “One to Watch” and “Recommended” lists.

Jim Vallance, who has written chart-topping songs with Bryan Adams, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne, told her she’s got the makings of a hit songwriter. Ralph Murphy, VP for ASCAP in Nashville, who produced the band April Wine (2 gold albums, 1 platinum), generated hits for Crystal Gale, recorded with Randy Travis and Shania Twain, calls her “The Smudge”. Ralph called her material “catchy” and encouraged her to get more songs to TV and Film.

Smudgie’s live experience includes playing Nashville’s Bluebird Café and The Commodore Grille. She was also chosen to be part of the Free Times Café’s “Best of the Open Mic” in Toronto.

She is now working on her next studio album with Attitude Productions.
